Medical Simulation Solutions Limited is committed to reducing our environmental impact and to supporting the NHS in reaching Net Zero by 2050. We aim to minimise greenhouse gas emissions and implement continuous improvement in our operations and products.
While this represents Medical Simulation Solutions Ltd’s first formal Carbon Reduction Plan, the organisation has previously demonstrated an understanding of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and has proactively considered emissions reduction within its operations.
The data for Scopes 1, 2, and 3 have been calculated from data obtained from the Government webpage https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-tax as well as the SSE Energy Solutions carbon footprint calculator.
| Emissions | TOTAL (tCO2e) |
| Scope 1 | – This reflects the director’s company vehicle, which is fully electric and therefore does not generate direct emissions from fuel combustion. There are no additional Scope 1 emissions, as the premises do not use gas. |
| Scope 2 | 1,2 – This reflects electricity usage at the company headquarters and that used by employees when working from home. |
| Scope 3 (Included Sources) | 2.0 – Emissions within this scope include employee commuting by car, business travel using personal vehicles, and rail travel. This scope does not cover emissions associated with upstream or downstream transportation and distribution, or waste generation. This is due to the nature of the organisation as a medical simulation company, where operations do not involve carbon-intensive product manufacturing or distribution activities. |
| Total | 3.28 |
3. Carbon Reduction Targets
| Target | Timeline | Action Description |
| Reduce Scope 1 & 2 emissions by 15% | 3 years | Energy-efficient offices, LED lighting, renewable energy contracts |
| Reduce Scope 3 emissions by 10% | 5 years | Sustainable sourcing, low-carbon logistics, packaging optimisation |
| Product carbon footprint reduction | 5 years | Repairable simulators; longer product lifespans |
| Net Zero alignment | 2050 | Continuous improvement in operations, supply chain, and product lifecycle |
